Crop insurance in Maharashtra (PMFBY farmer share from 2025)

Maharashtra stopped the arrangement in which the state paid the whole farmer share of the PMFBY premium in 2025, according to a Government of India release of August 2026. Farmers therefore pay the normal PMFBY share. Enrolment in Kharif 2025 fell sharply because of this.

Amount / benefit: Standard PMFBY share: 2% (Kharif), 1.5% (Rabi food crops and oilseeds), 5% (commercial/horticulture)
