Career guidance
Courses and career options after 10th in India 2026
This is the first big fork. You can continue to Class 11 and 12 in Science, Commerce or Arts, or move to a diploma, ITI or skill course that lets you start working sooner. A diploma or ITI does not close the door on a degree: diploma holders can usually enter engineering degrees in the second year through lateral entry.
- Pick a stream by what you enjoy and are good at, not only by marks or by what friends choose.
- Science with Maths (PCM) leads towards engineering, architecture and technology. Science with Biology (PCB) leads towards medicine and health. Commerce and Arts keep many doors open, including law, design, teaching, finance and civil services.
- If money is tight, look at government junior colleges, polytechnics and ITIs, and at the scholarships on this site.
- Whatever you pick, keep basic computer and communication skills growing.
